Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County, partnering with other local organizations, has been awarded a $750,000 grant for the Blueprint for Aging project.
The four-year award comes from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. One of eight projects around the country, the Blueprint aims at long-term care and supportive services for at-risk older adults. The programs include:
•A database that social services agencies can use to determine the help a senior has received without seniors having to repeat their stories.
•A pilot program in which those caring for a loved one age 60 or older will be given vouchers to buy respite services.
•A transportation voucher pilot program for seniors.
Local groups partnering with Catholic Social Services include the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, Washtenaw County, Turner Geriatric Services, the University of Michigan School of Social Work and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
